Biography
Curriculum Vitae

Lance Bennett (Ph.D., Yale University, 1974) is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Washington. He works primarily in the area of media and politics and has contributed to the literature of political psychology, communication theory, and culture. His most recent book is When the Press Fails: Political Power and the News Media from Iraq to Katrina (Chicago, with Regina Lawrence & Steven Livingston). He has served as chair of the Political Communication Section of the American Political Science Association, and on editorial boards of major journals in political science and communications.

He teaches courses on Political Communication, Civic Engagement, Media & Society. His areas of interest include Political Communication, Political Psychology, and comparative media systems and governance.

He is Director of the Center for Communication and Civic Engagement (www.engagedcitizen.org) and the Civic Learning Online project (www.engagedyouth.org).
