Curriculum Vitae

Jack Turner is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Washington. His research focuses on American political thought, race in American politics, and critical race theory. His essays on Tocqueville, Emerson, Thoreau, and Ellison have appeared or will soon appear in Political Theory (2005, 2008), Raritan (2008), and Polity (2008). He is working on a book entitled Awakening to Race: American Individualism and Responsible Citizenship. He is also the editor of A Political Companion to Henry David Thoreau (2009).
