Typical reader duties include assisting with the grading of exams and papers according to faculty supervisor instructions, proctoring exams, and submitting grades as instructed and by deadlines established by the faculty supervisor.
Readers are paid $11.53 per hour and the number of hours is based on the number of students enrolled on the 10th day of the quarter (usually a minimum of 60 students). Readers are paid for their services in a lump sum on December 10, 2009.
To apply, email the instructor with your qualifications to be a reader for the class for which you are interested. The application deadline for Autumn 2009 is Friday, October 9. Note that international students on a J-1 or F-1 visa are not eligible to work more than 20 hours per week; therefore, international students who are already employed as Academic Student Employees (research assistants, teaching assistants, or staff assistants), cannot be hired as readers.
Applicants will be notified of hiring decisions by Friday, October 16.
