COMPARATIVE POLITICS GENERAL FIELD


These are minimum requirements. Additional courses may be desirable and are up to the supervising committee to designate. Courses used to satisfy requirements in other fields may not be used to satisfy Comparative Politics requirements.

Requirements for the PhD

Completion of at least four courses in the field of comparative politics as follows:

A. Pol S 505 Comparative Politics Core Course (5 credits).

B. One additional course from the Comparative Politics Course List.

C. Completions of A & B are minimum requirements before the defense of the Masters Essay of Distinction.

D. Two additional courses selected from the Comparative Politics Course List.


Comparative Politics Course List

A student my substitute graduate courses that are similar to those listed in addressing a topic or subfield of comparative politics, without limitation of inquiry to a particular area, provided the field supervisor approves in advance.
