Be a Student Speaker at the Political Science Convocation
To apply, submit a draft speech by Monday, May 19
Among the highlights of the Political Science Department’s
Convocation are the speeches given by student speakers. This is
an opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences with your
fellow graduates as you reflect on your undergraduate career at
the University of Washington and your studies in political science.
What and/or who has inspired and challenged you? What were some
of the moments and experiences that, looking back, had a profound
influence on you? What are some of the values that guide you into
your future?
Speeches are to be about five minutes and broad enough to appeal
to a diverse audience of fellow students, family, and friends. You
can relate an anecdote or share your feelings and reflections as
you prepare for the future beyond undergraduate study.
If you are interested in becoming one of our convocation student
speakers, please e-mail us a draft of what you would like to present
by Monday, May 19th. We will choose the speakers by May 22nd and
we will work with the selected students to finalize their speeches
by May 29 so there is time to practice before speaking in front
of an audience.
We hope to hear from you. If you have questions, please contact
Political Science Advising at polsadvc@u.washington.edu or 206-543-1824.
