Getting to PhC: Overcoming Common Hurdles

The Professionalization Series for Graduate Students (PSGS) is intended to provide a venue to share information, experiences, and best practices around a key set of issues relevant to graduate school and the broader academic profession.

The third and final meeting of the academic year, “Getting to PhC: Overcoming Common Hurdles,” will take place on Friday, May 18 from 12:00pm-1:30pm in the Olson Room. The workshop will cover some of the common challenges faced in the early years of graduate school, including getting the most out of coursework, dos and don’ts for the MA paper, passing comprehensive exams, building a committee, coming up with a dissertation topic, and preparing a prospectus..

The speakers at this event will be Sophia Jordán Wallace and Geoff Wallace, who will each make a brief presentation followed by an open-ended Q&A discussion.
