FACULTY AND GRADUATE STUDENTS PAPERS, PUBLICATIONS AND ACTIVITIES:

Nives Dolsak and Aseem PrakashNomadland, Economic Disruption, And The Need For “Just Climate Transition.” Forbes.com, April 12.

Cloé Zhao’s movie Nomadland (based on Jessica Bruder’s novel) is receiving rave reviews. It also has important implications for the climate debate. The movie vividly reveals the economic challenges from economic shocks arising from business cycles and globalization. As the world moves away from fossil fuels – which it should – the ensuing economic dislocation could ignite a backlash. This is why “just transition” policies should be a top political priority in climate policy design.

Jaek Grumbach’s paper, “Laboratories of Democratic Backsliding” was written up the The Economist, “In America, Republican-led states are rolling back electoral and civil liberties” (April 13, 2021).
