Stephen Winkler is a PhD candidate and National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow in the Department of Political Science. His research focuses on the political economy of development and information's effects on political behavior. His current work examines how information about non-state service-delivery affects citizens' engagement with local government actors in Kenya.
He also studies how information (both from the media and from changes in social diversity) shapes attitudes about sexual minorities.
Stephen previously directed program management and impact evaluation for an international development organization in Nairobi, Kenya.
