Professor Emeritus Michael McCann has been chosen for the 2024 American Bar Foundation Fellows "Outstanding Scholar Award. "The award is "in recognition of outstanding research, mentorship, and service to the American Bar Foundation.”

The ABF Award follows his selection this past summer as co-winner of the Law & Society Association 2023 Harry J. Kalven Prize.  That award specifically recognizes "empirical scholarship that has contributed most effectively to the advancement of research in Law and Society."

These awards recognize contributions to research and public engagement on important sociolegal issues.  In both cases, McCann's research on struggles for workers' rights and social justice, highlighted in his path-breaking books Rights at Work (Chicago, 1994) and Union by Law (Chicago, 2020, with George Lovell), were recognized as especially notable contributions.
