Are you passionate about local politics and public health? Interested in getting hands-on experience in campaign management, strategy, and messaging? The Harborview Health for All campaign is looking for talented, committed people to work with us on a critical healthcare measure that will secure $1.7B to expand and increase critical healthcare capacity at Harborview Medical Center.
In this position you’ll work closely with the campaign manager and key stakeholders, to increase voter contact, promote volunteer engagement, and support campaign communications central to the success of the measure.
At the conclusion of this internship, interns may include this experience on their resume or a college application and receive a letter of recommendation for future use. This is an unpaid position but can be counted for school credit or community service hours.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work on one of the most critical ballot measures of 2020 and ensure the continuation of high-quality healthcare at King County’s only public hospital which serves our most vulnerable residents. We are committed to teaching our interns about campaign organizing and helping them forge strong connections within the Seattle political community.
Time Frame:
September through November. Intern time commitments may vary and are flexible. However, we request a minimum of 10 hours a week with some availability on weeknights and weekends.
- Strong oral and written skills
- Ability to communicate efficiently and respectfully with voters
- Experience in social media management and design
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Capacity to work independently and within a team
- Passion for equitable healthcare access and politics
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of local politics and/or Harborview Medical Center
- Experience with VoteBuilder or America Votes
