UW Political Science Student Organization
UWPSSO is a student run organization that is focused on forming connections with the Political Science department and faculty, as well as creating open forums to engage students with the faculty's projects and research. Additionally, we strive to have Political Science students have a voice in deciding and planning what type of events would be the most beneficial and enriching to their undergraduate experience.
Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, is the only honor society for college and university students of government in the United States. Pi Sigma Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. The University of Washington's Pi Sigma Alpha chapter is named the "NU Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha". The Nu Chapter invites qualified UW students members to join. See a Political Science adviser for an application.
Phi Beta Kappa
All undergraduate students in the University who have a distinguished scholastic record and who meet the requirements of a “liberal education” qualify for election as members of the Washington Alpha chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Requirements for election are: a 3.75 GPA, an upper division “liberal” course requirement of 8 credits (courses at the 300-level or above which are not closely related to the student’s major), and a University residency requirement. For complete and up-to-date information consult the chapter’s home page: http://depts.washington.edu/uwpbk/.
