The "I" in Innovation: Design Thinking the Self

Open to all students except incoming Freshman
 
The goal of this course is to teach students how to use design thinking to develop a better sense of self-awareness and to discover what drives them. Students will emerge with a better understanding of their passions and use what they learn to build a plan and strategies for maintaining self-awareness, creativity, and motivation both in the short-term, while at the UW, and in the long-term, as they develop their careers. Topics covered include design thinking, developing an innovation mindset, value of reflection, mindfulness as an approach to innovation, art of negotiation, and leadership skills. Class will include guest speakers, in-class exercises, and individual and team projects.
