Submitted by Caterina Rost on May 19, 2016 - 3:04pm

Apply to represent the U.S. at the Taiwan-America Student Conference (TASC)! This international conference will take place this summer from July 27-August 16.

TASC is a completely student-run, three-week long professional conference held in Taiwan, one of the most vibrant democracies in Asia, and conducted in English. Throughout the conference, American and Taiwanese university students will participate in:

  • Roundtables designed for delegates to delve into a single contemporary issue throughout the conference within the context of political, economic and social implications of Taiwan-US relations. Discussions will focus on a comparative analysis of modern issues in education; media and communication; transpacific entrepreneurship; cultural conflict and identity; and environment and sustainability.
  • Academic Forums featuring international leaders such as Tsai Ing-wen, Taiwan’s president-elect; Dr. Stanton, the former director of the American Institute in Taiwan (de-facto American Embassy); and Anting Liu, the founder of Teach for Taiwan.
  • Professional Networking Events with top leaders in politics, industry, academia, and NGOs for delegates to gain access to mentors and opportunities to build a community of strong connections for future professional success.
  • Cultural/Historical Excursions tailored to immerse delegates in Taiwan’s diverse culture and history and allow them to enjoy the conference through hands-on, engaging experiences: from intimate homestays to exclusive tours of aboriginal tribes and Taipei 101, the world’s tallest green building.
  • Final Forum to publicly present original, implementable solutions developed during the conference through roundtable discussions and under the mentorship of leaders in each respective field.
