From the instructor, Ashley Penney, M.Ed., BCBA, Director of ABA Services, UW Autism Center:
Dear Potential Students,
This email is to let you know about a special course offered through Speech and Hearing Sciences in the Autumn of 2016. This course will offer introductory preparation to students interested in working as a Behavior Technician (BT) with individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The course meets the training requirements set forth by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) of 40 hours of content training on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). There are many agencies in the greater Seattle area who offer ABA therapy services to individuals with autism and they are often looking for trained BTs. This course will provide content training in behavioral principles, strategies to manage challenging behaviors, professional responsibilities and other tasks related to work as a Behavior Technician.
