A Conversation with Brittany Packnett

The Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center (Kelly ECC) has taken an active role in creating meaningful programs and inviting prominent speakers to further our core values surrounding Leadership, Education, Advising, Diversity and creating Inclusive Space on campus. In order to host and provide these great programs, we recognize that our success is contingent on the support from our campus partnerships, community collaborations, and student community engagement.

In honoring that tradition of distinguished speakers, this Saturday morning, February 18, 2017, the Kelly ECC will host Brittany Packnett here at the Diversity Leadership Conference from 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM.  An activist, former teacher, education executive, and community organizer, Ms. Packnett came to national attention when she, along with other #BlackLivesMatter partner DeRay McKesson, co-founded Campaign Zerowhich helped turn the #BLM movement into a policy platform to address police violence.  Her actions were a significant factor in helping her become part of former President Obama’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing.

I would like to extend to you this personal invitation to join us this Saturday morning for Brittany Packnett’s fireside chat. Members from our team were able to see Brittany present at other national conferences, and they were amazed and moved by her commanding story so we are excited to bring her powerful narrative as a womyn of color to campus.
