Sarah Dreier

UW Political Science PhD candidate Sarah Dreier appeared on the May 14, 2017 episode of the “Research on Religion Podcast” to discuss her research on Anglicans, Lutherans, and African churches. Specifically, she addresses the cultural rift between African churches and their Anglican/Lutheran counterparts in Europe and the US. In the podcast, Dreier answers question like:

Why are some African Anglican and Lutheran churches vocally opposed to the progressive social mores of their European/US counterparts? What types of difficulties do transnational organizations have when juggling cultural concerns?  And why don’t these African churches just “go Pentecostal”?

In addition, you can learn a bit of personal history background on how this dissertation topic came to be.

The “Research on Religion” podcast series is sponsored by the Baylor Institute for Studies of Religion (ISR) and hosted by UW Political Science Professor Anthony Gill.
