Apply to ASUW Legislative Steering Committee 2019-20

Submitted by Toni Kwong on May 22, 2019 - 9:27am

This year, the ASUW successfully lobbied the state legislature to make college more affordable, provide religious accommodations to students, support students experiencing homelessness, and provide more resources to survivors of sexual assault. These legislative priorities were guided by the ASUW Legislative Agenda, created every year by the ASUW Legislative Steering Committee (LSC). The ASUW is looking for new LSC members to meet Fall Quarter 2019 and decide student lobbying priorities for the next legislative session in Olympia.

If you’re interested in impacting the ASUW’s legislative priorities in the upcoming session, apply for the 2019-20 ASUW Legislative Steering Committee and help advocate for diverse and important student issues. Committee members will help to review previous years’ agendas, decide what issues to lobby on the next session, and draft the new agenda. All years and majors are encouraged to apply! No experience or qualifications are necessary, just an interest in advocating for issues that affect the UW campus and students. Meetings typically run 1 hour and will be held weekly in Fall Quarter 2019, times based on your availability.

To apply, please fill out this short application. We will be reaching out to candidates starting Monday, June 2nd: https://forms.gle/z8hrUPatxTny3ufHA

**The ASUW is also hiring! Apply on Handshake for Office of Government Relations Assistant Director and Community Organizer by Sunday, June 2nd.**
