Why haven't co-sponsors of the other environmental legislation signed on to the Green New Deal? Are Congress members avoiding it? Has it become political taboo?
The Green New Deal (GND) puts forth an ambitious policy agenda. And that may be part of the problem for some legislators. The GND may be too radical for many with its inclusion of other issues like healthcare and social inequalities. The GND being sponsored by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could also be a problem for other representatives as associating with the GND would make it appear that they agree with her politics."Politicians are recognizing this pro-climate mood... there is support for climate action but not for the GND label."
