20th Anniversary of the WTO Protests, Event on Dec 7

Submitted by Colleen Park on November 25, 2019 - 11:32am

In November 1999, a cross-border, cross-sector coalition converged on Seattle and derailed the expansion of the World Trade Organization.

20 years later, we are partnering with the Washington Fair Trade Coalition on a commemoration event that will reignite the energy around transforming the global economy in the favor of people, workers, communities, and the planet.

On December 7, multiple organizations, including the Harry Bridges Center for Labor Studies, UW, will join in the commemoration event, and we encourage folks to come and participate!

  1. 10am Rallyat Occidental Park: please bring organizational banners and signs!
  2. 3:30pm Trade Justice Workshops at Town Hall Seattle on the cross sections of trade with environment, labor, public health, food sovereignty, Indigenous sovereignty, tech, immigration, militarism, and cross-border activism.
  3. 7:30pm Keynotewith Nobel Laureate Joseph Stiglitz, preceded by an Action Orientation with Lori Wallach.

Tickets for the keynote are limited, please RSVP through Eventbrite

As we head into 2020 and beyond, building the connections between our movements and recognizing the power our movements have when they work together is as crucial as ever.

Thanks in advance for your attention on this!
