WISIR Event: Dr. Melanye Price lecture on Thursday, Jan. 30th.

Dr. Melanye Price is giving a talk at UW on Thursday, January 30th at 5:30pm in Gowen 301. Her talk is entitled, "Mountaintop Removal: MLK, Trump and the Racial Mountain”. 
 
Bio: Dr. Melanye Price is an Endowed Professor of Political Science at Prairie View A&M University and the principle investigator for their African American Studies Initiative.  She is the author of two books, The Race Whisperer: Barack Obama and the Political Uses of Race (NYU, 2016)  and Dreaming Blackness: Black Nationalism and African American Public Opinion (NYU, 2009). Her new project is called “Mountaintop Removal: Martin Luther King, Trump and the Racial Mountain,” which uses MLK’s “Mountaintop Speech” as a lens for understanding the rise of Trump and the 2016 election. Her scholarship and public intellectual work regularly appears in outlets such as The New York Times, Vox, and NYC and NPR among others.
