Prof. Aseem Prakash in the UW Daily, "UW experts call Biden’s climate plan a worthy starting point"

Lately, Particular attention has been paid to Donald’s Trump’s rollback of 100 environmental rules, which is especially striking in an election season in which presumptive Demoractive nominee Joe Biden’s Contrasting views on climate change have been made so clear. The UW’s Aseem Prakash, a professor in the department of political science and founding director of the center of environmental politics and Nives Dolšak, professor and director of the School of Marine and Environmental Affairs expressed enthusiasm for Biden’s plan, they also cautioned that Biden must be intentional about creating jobs in blue-collar communities, which would otherwise collapse under this new economy. Biden’s plan expresses the need to “accelerate innovation in supply-chain resilience by investing in research to bolster and build critical clean energy supply chains in the United States, addressing
issues like reliance on rare earth minerals.” Ultimately, the UW experts reiterated their optimism that Biden’s plan brings clean energy transition to the front of the conversation.
