Are you excited by political and social data? Looking to build your data and analytical skills? Interested in writing and journalism?

If any of this describes you, we invite you to join the Polling and Open Data Initiative at the University of Washington (PODUW), a nonpartisan RSO dedicated to better understanding the communities we call home! We poll the student community on the issues that matter to them - while working with organizations to analyze and create meaningful public data. In the last two quarters, our projects include creating a report on student internship searches at the Allen School, examining Informatics’ students aspirations during the pandemic, and polling students about experiences with discrimination against Asian Americans - as recently profiled in the Daily!

We’re actively recruiting:

  • Data journalists to write about interesting public data

  • Poll designers to create high-quality, interesting polls that tackle pressing issues

  • Data analysts and visualizations specialists to analyze data and create top-notch visualizations

  • Communications, social media, outreach, and fundraising experts

If you are passionate about our mission of making public data and information more accessible, we’re passionate about welcoming you to our team. For more information, please visit poddata.org, and apply at https://poddata.org/getinvolved/join/.

If you have any questions, please send them to poduw@uw.edu or DM us at pod_uw on Instagram!
