Prof. Aseem Prakash and colleague Prof. Nives Dolšak write about the issues of electrification and decarbonization, moving away from gas-powered to electricity powered.

"Glasgow COP26 seeks accelerated decarbonization of the electricity sector. Climate advocates want automobiles to ditch the internal combustion engine and buildings to shift to electricity from gas for heating. However, political support for electrification depends on a reliable electricity transmission and distribution system that can withstand extreme weather events."

Can America create a reliable electricity source that can withstand heavy storms and harsh winds? Does America  have the funds to do so? Read this article to find out more details about how we need a reliable source of electricity to begin decarbonization and electrification.
