Prof. Aseem Prakash and colleague Prof. Nives Dolšak tell us in a new Forbes article that should air pollution in New York And Washington D.C. trigger a climate emergency.

The article discusses the debate around declaring a climate emergency in the United States and a question as to whether it will be effective in addressing chronic policy shortcomings. The authors mention contradictions in the President Biden's action. The authors also suggest to focus on the real obstacles to climate policy rather than focusing on symbolic declarations.

" Critical impediments to climate policy are now at the implementation stage such as grid connectivity and infrastructure permitting. This is where political efforts should be directed instead of virtue signaling over Twitter."
