Communications Coordinator – Tye for Five

In collaboration with the Tye for Five campaign team, the selected candidate will develop and manage written content and digital infrastructure related to events, fundraising, and get-out-the-vote efforts. This is a volunteer position that will support Tye Reed’s run for Seattle City Council in District 5 (roughly speaking, all residents north of 85th Street). 

Our communication tools currently include Instagram, Twitter, Slack, email, phone calls, and texting. The communications coordinator will help ensure consistency across platforms while simultaneously developing distinct audiences and goals. You will work closely with the field coordinator and social media lead.

About Tye Reed

Tye is a housing advocate and mutual aid organizer committed to worker and tenant rights. Tye’s platform includes generating progressive revenue, fully funding social housing, prioritizing green spaces for pedestrians and cyclists, expanding public transportation and free fare programs, ending encampment sweeps, and supporting everyone experiencing housing instability with accessible services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and send weekly newsletter-style updates

  • Support the social media team to create posts that advertise campaign events and endorsements

  • Review and broadcast key moments of debates and forums

  • Participate in team meetings (1-2 weekly)

  • Manage Slack workspace channels to ensure volunteers are informed and engaged

  • Create language for fundraising and phone banking efforts

  • Identify and develop strategy to engage new supporters and volunteers
