The following presentations were conducted at the 119th annual conference of the American Political Science Association, Los Angeles, August 31-September 3:
Elizabeth Echavarria (presenter), Joannie Tremblay-Boire, Nives Dolšak, and Aseem Prakash, "Why Do Environmental NGOs Incorporate Social Justice as a Focus? An empirical analysis of changes in organizational activities between 2011 and 2023."
Kayla Morton (presenter), Nives Dolšak, and Aseem Prakash, "Issue Linkage and Climate Votes in the U.S. House of Representatives, 2007-2021." Kayla also presented this paper at the 12th annual Northwest Climate Conference, October 2-4, 2023.
Liliana Andonova, Agnese Zucca, Simon Montfort, Nives Dolšak (presenter), and Aseem Prakash, "Public Support for Climate Adaptation Aid: A Conjoint Experiment in Switzerland."
Aseem Prakash and Jennifer Hadden co-organized a roundtable on, "What Scholars Know (and Need to Know) about the Politics of Climate Change." Panelists were: Gary Segura (UCLA), Helen Milner (Princeton), Tanja Börzel (Freie Universität, Berlin), Kathryn Harrison (UBC), and Patrick Egan (NYU).
The following presentation was conducted at the Mini-Conference on Public Health, Spillover Effects, and Public Choice at the Heider College of Business, Creighton University, June 15-16, 2023.
Tony Gill presented a co-authored paper entitled "Coase, Community, and Competing Uses: There are No Externalities among Friends" with Diana W. Thomas and Michael D. Thomas Tony hit it out of the ballpark, which was coincidental because the College World Series was being held just off campus at the same time and their stadium has cheap, delicious dogs and beer.
POLITICAL SCIENCE TALKS/SEMINARS:
The Center for Environmental Politics presents Helen Milner (Princeton University), “How Climate Change Will Reshape Politics”. Friday, October 13, 2023, Noon-1:30pm, Olson Room (Gowen 1A).
Severyns Ravenholt Seminar in Comparative Politics will be hosting Mariela Daby (Reed College) who will be presenting part of her forthcoming Cambridge Elements book Mobilizing for Abortion Rights in Latin America w/ our own Meagan Carmack as the graduate student discussant. Friday, Oct. 13th, 3:30-5:00 pm, Olson Room (Gowen 1A).
Severyns Ravenholt Seminar in Comparative Politics will be hosting Darin Christensen who will be presenting his manuscript titled "Interest-based Negotiation over Natural Resources: Experimental Evidence from Liberia" w/ our own Brian Leung as the graduate student discussant. Friday, October 27th, 3:30-5:00 in the Olson Room (Gowen 1A).
