COMPARATIVE POLITICS FIELD CORE
Syllabus Description (from Canvas):
Course Description:
Within political science, the study of comparative politics involves the two most important lines of investigation into the study of political order in the modern world: 1) who governs? and 2) how do they govern (that is, what are the consequences of who governs for the governed)? This class begins to answer through a study of comparative institutions, including states; regime type; executive, legislative, and judicial bodies; and political parties and voters. Given its focus on institutions, it is a complement to, rather than a replacement for, POLS 542/JSIS 542 “State & Society.”
Catalog Description:
Modern theories, approaches, and methods in the study of comparative politics.
