Campaign Organizer Intern with Joe Nguyen for State Senate

Summary:

This position will provide you tools and training to turn into full fledged organizers. You will work with some of the most senior political campaign operatives in the Washington State and have the opportunity to learn from them. By the time the election is over, you will know how to effectively persuade voters to support your candidate, how to organize successful events, and obtain an intimate understanding of the political election process and have a positive impact on the community. This position will set you up for campaign management positions, but whether or not you decide to continue your career path working on campaigns, the skills acquired over the course of the general election will be transferable to any career path you choose.

Description:

Field is arguably the single most important factor in the success of a campaign. In order to ensure the campaign gets its message out through direct voter contact, you will be responsible for executing our comprehensive plan, which includes door knocking and phoning in order to ID voters and persuade them about the candidate. You will also be responsible for helping recruit and manage volunteers to help with various campaign activities. We will also train you to help coordinate and staff events and Joe as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Strong time-management skills and work ethic;
  • Ability to motivate volunteers to reach goals;
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to spend long hours on the phone and canvassing;
  • Ability to adapt quickly and accomplish goals as set forth by the campaign;
  • Results-oriented, dependable, and proactive;
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
  • A valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle

 Hours:

10-15 a week, we will sit down at the beginning of each month and schedule out your hours for the following month. We are flexible and want to ensure that this experience is tailored to fit your needs as well.

Expenses:

The campaign will cover gas, food, and any other expenditures as it relates to completing campaign duties. Additionally, we will provide letters of recommendation and, if applicable, would also like to have this count as an internship so you can get college credit for this. In order to do that we will need paperwork from your respective university.
