Apply for 2015-16 A&S Advisory Council for Students, May 27 Deadline

The Arts and Sciences Advisory Council for Students (ASACS) is seeking applicants!

ASACS is an advisory council for the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences that consists of approximately 10 undergraduates and 2 graduate students. We meet regularly with Dean Stacey to provide student perspective, input, and recommendations on College-level decision making regarding budgets and policies pertaining to our college. We discuss a wide range of issues decided on by our council. We have submitted recommendations to both the Dean and the Provost Advisory Committee for Students (PACS) on issues like merit based faculty salary increases, the number of teaching assistants in the college, online course evaluations, creation of a new Life Sciences building, and the review of course fees. We meet weekly on Fridays from 3:30pm-5:00pm in the Dean's Office (CMU 065).

We are currently seeking motivated and engaging undergraduates and graduate students to apply for the 2015-2016 school year. We are looking for students from all disciplines, perspectives, and grade levels.

By being a member of ASACS you can:

  • Gain leadership experience
  • Serve your community
  • Have your voice heard
  • Make a real impact on campus
  • Learn more about the policies and budgets that shape the UW College of Arts and Sciences

Interested students should submit a letter of application (recommended 1-2 pages) and a resume to the following catalyst drop box: https://catalyst.uw.edu/collectit/dropbox/ukaratay/31942. The letter should detail their interest and qualifications for serving on the Council, include potential topics they are interested in having ASACS discuss during the upcoming year, and outline their views on what the role of ASACS should be within the College of Arts and Sciences. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 27, 2015. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Karan Grewal at dsgrewal@uw.edu.
