European Student Conference, February 5th and 6th, 2016

Submitted by Mark P. Weitzenkamp on October 6, 2015 - 8:35am

On behalf of European Horizons and Yale University, I would like to invite your students to apply to our annual European Student Conference (ESC 2016) on February 5th and 6th 2016.

The objective of ESC 2016 is for students to deal with the challenges that confront the European Union. To this end, ESC 2016 will feature six workshops: Economy and Innovation, European Identity, Democracy and Institutions, Immigration and Integration, Transatlantic Relations, and Entrepreneurship.

Each Workshop will consist of 15 students, both undergraduate and graduate, as well as of policy advisers from European and international institutions and professors from renowned American universities. At the end of the Conference, participants will have generated policy-papers on the aforementioned topics that will analyze the dimensions of the challenges, propose policy prescriptions for the European Union to adopt, and outline how they, as students, can work towards implementing their vision of Europe.

European Horizons is a think tank based at Yale University devoted to exploring the meaning of European identity, modernizing and reforming the concept of the social market economy, advancing the cause of European integration, and deepening transatlantic relations. Since February 2015, we have established a network of students, professors, and European decision-makers, whilst we currently maintain chapters across 15 universities in the United States and Europe. After the inaugural ESC 2015, which was acclaimed by the dignitaries who attended, including Pascal Lamy and David O'Sullivan, and featured in major American and European media, ESC 2016, hosted by European Horizons, will bring together one hundred undergraduate and graduate students. Here is a link to the first issue of The Review of European and Transatlantic Affairs (RETA) published after last year's conference.

Please find the application on our website. The application for both Graduate and Undergraduate students is due no later than 11:59 PM EST October 30th 2015. Attached you will find the Conference's flyer and its prospectus. Only those who are currently enrolled as a full time student in an university in the United States will be eligible to apply.

Please forward this message to departments and students who may be interested in the conference and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Warmest regards, Patrick Demkowicz
