Allyship 400: Solidarity Workshop

In honor of #QolorsForever, the Q Center, Ethnic Cultural Center, and D Center are working together to bring J Mase III from awQward talent agency to facilitate a workshop examining how we, as student and community leaders, can upgrade our organizing efforts in solidarity across social justice movements.

We have to approach activism with an intersectional lens! As we promote our needs, we cannot do so at the expense of other communities. Our constituents, fellow community members, and friends experience life at a myriad of intersecting identities, so it is our duty to ensure that we can be inclusive and accessible in our organizing efforts.

This workshop will take place on Saturday, April 9th, HUB 340, from 3:30-6:30pm. Dinner will be provided. Please register by April 2nd, so organizers know how much food to bring!

Please RSVP using our Google Form. Dinner will be provided for participants who register.

Additional Info:

The Solidarity Framework is like an Allyship 400 class. If folks have been looking for something beyond general concepts re: allyship this would be it. The workshop is strongly rooted within theories of racial justice, dealing with transmisogyny and more to provide each participant with their own plan of how they can be in better solidarity with communities in an intersectional/intentional way.  It also moves folks out of their feelings around social justice/solidarity work and into concrete action steps with accountability in mind.  It uses self-reflection (particularly as it relates to our roles within the system), video and physical movement for all abilities.
