UW Center for American Politics and Public Policy (CAPPP) Undergraduate Research Fellowship 2016

Submitted by Mark P. Weitzenkamp on

The Center for American Politics and Public Policy (CAPPP) Undergraduate Research Fellowship program is designed to teach undergraduate students to carry out original research projects. Political science majors and minors are invited to work closely with a faculty member, learn political science research skills, and complete an independent project throughout a full academic year.

Admitted students enroll for 5 independent research credits (POL S 499D) during Fall, Winter and Spring quarter. The Fellows meet as a group for 1-hour each week. In Fall term, Fellows are introduced to research design and learn how to analyze data using statistical methods. In Winter and Spring, the CAPPP Fellows carry out their own research projects and present their work at the UW Undergraduate Research Symposium.

Many CAPPP Fellows subsequently pursue graduate studies and have been admitted to MA and Ph.D. programs at Berkeley, Cornell, Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Rochester, Yale and the University of Washington.

Although no previous research experience is required, Fellows are strongly encouraged to enroll in POL S 205 (Research Methods for Political Scientists) or an equivalent course.

Applications for Fall 2016 are accepted in Spring quarter and considered on a rolling basis until the program is full. Please visit the application page for more details: https://depts.washington.edu/cappp/index.php/undergraduate-fellows/application/
