STEM & Social Science Majors: NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Info Sessions

Announcement from the Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships & Awards: 

Together with the Graduate School’s Office of Fellowships and Awards, we are offering 3 information sessions to help prepare students for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) application. This fellowship program is for undergraduates/bachelor’s level alums and first year graduate students who plan to pursue research-based Master’s and doctoral degree programs in Social Science,  STEM fields or STEM Education & Learning Research.  The GRFP especially encourages members of underrepresented minority groups, women, persons with disabilities and veterans to apply. 

About the program:

  • Selected students benefit from a three-year annual stipend of $34,000 along with a $12,000 cost of education allowance for tuition and fees.
  • Fellows also have opportunities for international research and professional development.
  • Last year, 2,000 students were offered an award, or approximately 1 out of every 6.5 applicants.
  • Due to a recent eligibility change, the program now limits current graduate students to only one application to the GRFP, submitted either in their first year or in the second year of graduate school.  
  • We expect  that the program solicitation and application will be released in late summer.
