The Guangzhou Healing Garden Design Program, held from March 14th  March 25th, 2018,  is now available and registration is available on line  http://hive.be.uw.edu/china-2018-registration/

The cost is $1,000, including room and board but not including airfare or personal spending money.  You will receive LArch 495 (3 credits) for the program.  The program is administered through the College of the Built Environmen (CBE), but you purchase insurance through the
International Programs and Exchange (IPE) for a minimal price.  Registration is now open until January 19th, 2018, when it will close at 5pm.  The program is a collaboration between the South China Agricultural University Landscape Architecture Program and the University of
Washington. We will work with their students in inter- collegiate teams.  The site for the garden is in the South China Botanical Garden (SCBG).  The program will kick off with a series of lectures on therapeutic garden design, followed by a site orientation at the SCBG, after which
design teams will create design proposals for the final presentation.

Learning objectives:

Develop a basic understanding of therapeutic garden design principle.

Explore and develop a rudimentary understanding of materials and construction detailing.

Develop skills for quick design and basic illustrative drawing.
