Ms. Khair is the Standing Counsel for the Delhi High Court at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Central University where 50% of seats are reserved for Muslims and other minorities.
As an advocate for women and children in India's male-centric judicial system, she helps seek justice on gender-inequity issues including sexual violence, workplace harassment, dowry harassment and more. Ms. Khair also leads training and workshops to share knowledge, draft guidelines for University/MNCs/Banks to implement India’s 2013 Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act and raise awareness on how gender plays a key role in the way women and men participate in social, political, and economic activities.
Note: JMI started as a struggle for education and cultural renaissance in the 1920s by a group of educationists including Dr. Zakir Hussain (also the third President of India), JMI today has come a long way and is one of the three major Central Universities in Delhi.
