Chinese Buddhist Canon in Formation
Fei Zhao, Ph.D. in Asian Languages and Literature
Location: HUB 337, University of Washington
This talk will introduce how Buddhist texts were transmitted to early Medieval China via the Silk Road and how these texts were translated into Chinese. We will discuss the pioneer translators, their works and translation methods. Their texts formed the core of the Chinese Buddhist Canon, which in turn became the foundation of East Asian Buddhism. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
