AIS 314 Southern Lushootseed Language (5cr) Foreign Language credit – TTh 2:30-4:20
A fun and interactive class focused on speaking, reading, and writing Southern Lushootseed language, the indigenous language of certain Coast Salish peoples right here in the Pacific NW. Students who did not take AIS 313 in Autumn quarter can still join AIS 314 in Winter. Please contact instructor Tami Hohn (tamihohn@uw.edu) for instructions on preparing before the first class.

Traditional and European-introduced methods of schooling, the federal role in Indian education, and contemporary Indian education issues. Special attention to Indian concepts of learning; boarding school education; the role of the Bureau of Indian Affairs; current trends in bilingual and bicultural education for Indians.
