Submitted by Toni Kwong on January 16, 2019 - 3:35pm

Decide the Verdict in a Mock Trial! Volunteer and Join the Jury Today!

The Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) New Member Education (NME) is seeking jurors for the mock trial portion of its annual Trial Advocacy Program (TAP) in February 2019. In general, TAP offers a two-day trial-skills and a one-day mock trial a few weeks later designed to help those new to practice develop their trial skills. The trials will be conducted by new lawyers and presided over by actual judges. The volunteer juror participates in the mock trial portion of the program.

Volunteer jurors will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe courtroom procedure
  • Support new attorneys in their growth at trial
  • Network with attorneys and judges
  • Deliberate and render a verdict

The minimum requirements for volunteer jurors are modeled after local Washington courts eligibility requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Must be a citizen of the United States; and
  • Able to communicate in English.

Mock trial details:

  • Date:  Saturday, February 23rd
  • Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: WSBA Conference Center, 1325 Fourth Ave., Suite 600, Seattle, WA
  • Lunch provided to all jurors!
