The Lived Experience: Parents' Perspectives on Early Learning Policies
Mondays 4:30 – 6:50
Open to graduate students and undergraduate students!
This quarter we have a unique and 1st of its kind class that will provide students with a never before opportunity to learn about child advocacy and policy-making through the lens of the families directly impacted.
Panels of parent leaders will share about their experiences and perspectives on early childhood education, the child welfare system, public benefits, the criminal justice system, access to higher education, and the public school system.
Topics will include the impacts of the intersections of poverty, race, culture, gender, and sexual orientation for families of young children. This class will include one site visit, considerable debate and discussion, project-based learning and assessment, and most importantly conversation and dialogue with parents and peers.
