Great Way to Finish Your Foreign Language Requirement!  (Autumn 2019)

Submitted by Mark P. Weitzenkamp on September 20, 2019 - 9:10am

American Indian Studies is again offering Southern Lushootseed, the original language of Seattle. Our ability to continue offering it depends on enrollment for the course this year, so unfortunately, if you have students considering it, there is no guarantee it will be taught on campus next year. So jump on in and register for Autumn 19!

Highlights include:

  • Fulfills Foreign Language requirement
  • Especially good for non-traditional learners - uses games like Bingo and storytelling
  • No final exams
  • Learn the language spoken by the Native peoples in this area
  • No prerequisites - Students of all majors and levels welcome

Also, if your students already have FL fulfilled, if they take the full year, they can count all 15 credits toward VLPA credit. Here’s a great article about the course from the Spring Perspectives newsletter.
