Environmental Justice Conference - May 19th 1:00-5:00pm

Submitted by Colleen Park on

Next week the UW College of the Environment will host the 3rd Annual Environmental Justice Conference - a space to explore different strategies for applying an equity lens to foster more inclusive and meaningful engagement to address the climate crisis.

3rd Annual Environmental Justice Conference

WHEN: May 19, 2020 | 1:00 – 5:00pm

WHERE: Virtual Event

RSVP at: https://environment.uw.edu/deievents/

Climate change poses one of the greatest threats to humanity and it is happening right now. Unfortunately, not all of us are impacted in the same way. Communities of color and underprivileged groups are more vulnerable to the effects of climate change due to structural inequities. What can each of us do to address these issues?

If you have not RSVP'd there is still time. If you are a UW student and you would like to participate in the conference by sharing what you or your student group does in relation to environmental justice, you can do it by:

Recording a 1min video to introduce your RSO (student group), letting the world know what you do; or Sending a flyer or text to invite people to future events related to environmental/climate justice; or Sending a description of your RSO (student group), logo, website info, and contact info to be added to a virtual directory.

This is a great opportunity to connect with other students, so send your contributions to micz@uw.edu. All contributions will be posted on the conference page.

Here is a short trailer with some students’ contributions.
