Submitted by Stephen Dunne on

The Political Science/JSIS/LSJ/GWSS Writing Center is open for Spring Quarter! Our team of tutors is ready as always to support you throughout the quarter and at any stage in the writing process—but now via Zoom! Go to https://depts.washington.edu/pswrite/ to sign up for an appointment.

What we do:

-       We are there to help you to communicate your ideas clearly and effectively, write strong thesis statements, make persuasive arguments, back up your claims with good evidence, use citations properly, understand the expectations of your assignment, and learn disciplinary writing norms.

-       We work with you at any stage from understanding paper prompts (before writing, talk with us about strategies for approaching the assignment!), to brainstorming, outlining, rough drafts, and final drafts.

-       Writing resources: we have many helpful handouts online at https://depts.washington.edu/pswrite/forstudents.html to help you edit your paper, refine your thesis statement, cite sources, and more.

-       We can help with essays, theses, response papers, major and internship applications, cover letters, résumés, and more.

Who can use the Writing Center?

Any student taking a class listed in or cross-listed with Political Science; Law, Societies & Justice; the Jackson School; or Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies or is majoring (or an intended major) in any of these programs. This includes writers of all abilities, English language learners, and even graduate students.

How to use our services:

Appointments are available Monday-Thursday from 9:30-5 pm. After you schedule your appointment on our website, a tutor will reach out to you the day before your session with information on how to reach them via Zoom.  If an appointment is unbooked, our tutors might be available for last minute drop-in appointments. Visit https://depts.washington.edu/pswrite/ for more details.

We look forward to helping you this year and hope to see you soon!
