We have a unique class, Drama 457, "Game Design in Performance." Last year we had students from all over the UW (Engineering, Humanities, Art, Computer Science - even Drama!) take the class, and I wanted to plug it this year because we've got plenty of space open. Here's a description:
Game design offers tools and systems to structure participatory storytelling, build compelling relationships between players and the fictional worlds they enter, and activate a sense of play and fun for everyone involved. This course will offer students a basic foundation on game design tools useful for theater, study examples of genre-bending game/theater hybrid works from current working artists, and give hands-on practice at making some of these works yourself.
No previous drama experience is required. Geared toward juniors and seniors; grad students are also welcome.
