Gorton Leaders Program at The National Bureau of Asian Research

Submitted by Stephen Dunne on

The Gorton Leaders Program (GLP) is a six-month fellowship for students interested in policy and international relations. Fellows participate in monthly roundtables with foreign policy experts and distinguished guest speakers. The Slade Gorton Policy Center at NBR honors the late Senator Slade Gorton by awarding fellowships each year to a small class of fellows from community colleges, colleges, and universities in the Pacific Northwest. The GLP cultivates and mentors the next generation of policy leaders by providing policy-focused classes and discussions and offering networking opportunities. The GLP curriculum focuses on three policy areas central to Senator Gorton's work in government: democracy and China; national security; and innovation, technology, and intellectual property. Incorporated throughout these policy areas are Senator Gorton's teachings on leadership and service.

From January – June 2023, fellows will meet two to three times a month at NBR’s Seattle office for 1.5-hour classes and roundtable discussions with experts, typically on Friday afternoons. A modest award is presented at the end of the program. Students can apply online at https://www.applicantpro.com/openings/nbr/jobs/2584962-182861.
