Hello students and alumni,

A three-day weekend is a perfect time to search for and apply for scholarships! Here are a few to look over, with upcoming deadlines.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND LEADERSHIP OPPORUTNITIES

**Many UW departments and programs have scholarship application deadlines during winter and spring quarters. Check your major department/program/college website or canvas site for scholarships now!

**The NextGn Public Service Fellowship supports students in identifying a public service internship and/or developing a work plan with their community-based partner organization. Fellows receive a $5000 stipend for completing an internship of 200 hours (or more) between May and September. Ongoing participation in the NextGen Civic Leader Corps is encouraged, but not required. Read here for eligibility requirements and the application process – deadline is on February 28.

**Gilman Program offers scholarships of up to $5,000 to Pell Grant recipients participating in credit-bearing abroad programs, between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2024. Students studying critical need languages may be eligible to receive an additional award of up to $3,000.  The John S. McCain International Scholarship for Military Families (Gilman-McCain Scholarship) provides awards of $5,000 for child and spousal dependents of active or activated United States military personnel to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. Applicants must be recipients of any type of Title IV federal financial aid. The application deadline is Thursday, March 9, 2023, by 11:59pm Pacific Time. Learn more here or email Gilmanadvisors@iie.org with any questions. 

** 2023 Summer Institute in the Arts & Humanities (SIAH): A Black Sense: Time, Art, and Being, developed and taught by Professors Bianca Dang, Habiba Ibrahim, and Jasmine Mahmoud, and PhD student Chari Glogovac-Smith. Undergraduates are able to engage in scholarly research with accomplished scholars and peers while earning full-time academic credit. Student participants develop individual, original research ideas related to an interdisciplinary theme and formally present their work at a closing symposium. To learn more about the theme, teaching team, application process and to sign up for an information session, visit our website. Applications are due March 20, 2023.

**The Martin Family Foundation Scholarships application season is underway for 2023-24 scholarships! There are two scholarships available from the Martin Family Foundation:

*The Martin Family Foundation Achievement Scholarship application is now available. Deadline for applications is April 6, 2023. This scholarship is open to WA resident students who have another year of full-time enrollment left to complete at their community college during 2023-24 and are looking forward to transferring to UW Seattle during the 2024-25 academic year (summer 2024 or later). Please see full eligibility and application details here.

*The Martin Family Foundation Honors Scholarship application will have a deadline in early July 2023. This scholarship is open to WA resident students transferring from any community college in WA to UW Seattle for the coming 2023-24 academic year. Students transferring in spring 2023, summer 2023, fall 2023, or winter 2024 should apply for this scholarship when the application opens in May. **RAY Diversity Fellowship - A two-year paid fellowship designed to equip recent college graduates who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color and demonstrate interest in the conservation and/or clean energy field(s), with the tools, experiences, support, and community they need to become leaders in the field. Apply here by March 27 2023 **Samvid Scholars Program – this program is for students entering graduate school in the 2023-2034 academic year who are committed to enacting change in society. Samvid Scholars provides both financial support (up to $100,000 over two years) and leadership development programming for future changemakers. Application due here: April 9 2023 **UW Alumni Reunion and Class Gifts Scholarship – open now, due April 18, 2023. This group of scholarships has opportunities open to all UW undergrads regardless of citizenship status, residency, or campus affiliation. While each endowment has slightly different eligibility and requirements, current UW undergraduates submit one UW Alumni Reunion and Class Gifts Scholarship online application to be considered for any of these scholarships. **The Sea Mar Community Health Centers Scholarships are now open! Sea Mar will be awarding $1,000 scholarships to students who are of migrant or seasonal farm worker backgrounds. Sea Mar also offers a $2,500 scholarship to students who demonstrate a history of advocacy, responsibility, accountability, and perseverance. Questions? **Emma Bowen Foundation (EBF) Summer 2023 Internship Program: EBF’s mission is to prepare students of color (Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or Multi-Racial) for careers in the media, entertainment and technology industries. Undergraduate students (including Class of 2023 spring graduates) and high school seniors are eligible to apply. Internships typically begin in late May or June.
