Upcoming deadline: Summer Politics Courses at AUP (updated)

Submitted by Stephen Dunne on April 7, 2023 - 11:13am

My name is Andrea Christmas and I am the Summer School Coordinator at The American University of Paris.

I write to you today to share information about Summer 2023 courses in politics and history at The American University of Paris. We have several fascinating courses which may be of interest to students at University of Washington.

June 3-week session (May 31-June 21):

Fallen Idols: Statue Toppling and Politics of Revolt

July 3-week session (June 27-July 18):

The EU and its Discontents: Business, Environment, and Rights

6-week course (May 31-July 12):

        International Institutions

In addition to the courses listed above, which are open to students of all grade levels, we also have two opportunities for seniors and rising seniors in your department:

For students with conversational French language skills, we are offering a Prison Education Workshop from June 1-July 21. Two days a week students will meet at La Santé prison in Paris, studying alongside people detained there. This class is a cross-cultural exchange between French-speaking and English-speaking participants. Detained students, who primarily speak French, will learn alongside college students from an Anglophone university. The deadline to apply for this program is April 26, 2023.

For students interested in human rights, international law, and diplomacy we are offering a Summer Institute for Human Rights. More information on this program can be found in the attached flyer.

Admission to both of these programs requires students to complete a secondary application for review by faculty coordinators in addition to admission to AUP Summer School.

I hope that you will consider sharing this information with students in your department who may be interested in traveling to Paris to take part in short courses at an English-language university.

Interested students can contact admissions@aup.edu for more information or apply on our website.
