Job Description

Nilu Jenks is running for Seattle City Council in District 5 (North Seattle). She got into this race for a range of issues like solving our climate emergency, addressing homelessness, growing housing affordability, expanding transit options, and addressing public safety. Nilu wants to work on council to pass meaningful legislation to address these issues in a collaborative and progressive way. 

Neighbors For Nilu is looking for a GOTV intern for the 2023 primary and general election! As an intern you’d take on key responsibilities in assisting on endorsement processes, volunteer recruitment, social media, events, and voter contact. This position requires communication, enthusiasm, attention to detail, and a shared goal to make Seattle a better place to be. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in day-to-day campaign operations and support the campaign in voter outreach.

  • Assist in endorsement processes.

  • Write, design, and post content for social media platforms. 

  • Execute a strong organizing and volunteer recruitment strategy to source and activate remote volunteers throughout the campaign.

  • Assist in keeping records of volunteers’ information, assignments, and goals.

  • Track and plan voter contact goals with the campaign.

  • Coordinate with campaign and consultants regularly.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience on political or organizing campaigns is preferred.

  • Previous experience utilizing social media and digital platforms such as: Facebook and Instagram.

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours.

  • Multilingualism is a plus.

  • Ability to build a positive culture for staff and volunteers.
