Offers regional context for themes of interest within Marine & Environmental Affairs. We will visit sites representing natural assets, environmental restoration, urban US natural resource management, fisheries and aquaculture, and cultural heritage. Visits are used to examine connections between social and environment in the region.

 

SMEA 550 E Reviewing Evidence of Environmental Injustice (3)

MON. & WED. 1:00 – 2:20 PM

This reading seminar is focused on reviewing papers that use observational data to examine the causal evidence of environmental injustice. Readings cover a broad range of topics including exposure to pollution, toxics, wildfires, and heat, housing market dynamics, and the distributional impacts of climate policies. The course also covers fundamental challenges in inferring causal relationships from observational data and methodologies of causal inference commonly applied to questions of environmental justice.
