ABOUT ISSUEVOTER:
IssueVoter is a non-profit and non-partisan online platform. IssueVoter makes civic engagement accessible with alerts before Congress votes, gives individuals a voice by sending opinions directly to their Representative, and keeps Congress accountable by providing a personalized scorecard of your Rep’s votes.
In 2022 IssueVoter:
Product and Design:
- Revealed new Logo
- Launched new site design, making IssueVoter easier to navigate and the organization easier to understand and more transparent, including how to partner, donation page, and about page, and more!
- Launched a new IssueVoter merch store with over 225 design iterations and our own unique images and characters
Making Policy Accessible:
- IssueVoter has covered nearly 1,000 bills, 207 in the 117th session of Congress: that’s thousands of hours of research benefiting people in every congressional district.
Giving You a Voice:
- We surpassed 4 million alerts and opinions sent to Congress!
Speaking and Events:
- IssueVoter participated in nonprofit showcase in Austin, and stood on the ACL stage, where we highlighted our founding story, impact, and goals for IssueVoter, all in under 5 minutes.
- IssueVoter produced two “Getting Ready to Vote” workshops ahead of the election!
Partnerships and Education
- We formed new partnerships with Community Colleges, Public Universities, and Private Universities across the US!
- IssueVoter can be used by constituents of all ages, and we sent our free lesson plan to 32 teachers! Share this link with the teachers you know!
Volunteers and Interns:
- In 2022, Volunteers interviewed interns and IssueVoter hosted 15 interns. Over the years, we’ve hosted over 85 internships!
QUALIFICATIONS:
IssueVoter looks for the following qualities in all interns, volunteers, and team members:
- Passion for advancing civic engagement through technology
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Research skills, including both the ability to find information and use it to create strategy and recommendations
- Writing skills, including an ability to summarize complex information concisely and in plain language
- Sense of urgency and results-oriented
- Takes initiative
- Good judgment
The deadline to apply is set for April 9, 2024.
Note: It is not a requirement but if students do have computer science/software development skills, they can put these to use during the internship. IssueVoter has a 4-year history of working with students remotely, offering the opportunity to learn, build your skills, and take ownership of projects. Students of any year or major may apply.
