New WIN25 GEN ST Course! Exploring Data Science at UW

Submitted by Junhee Park on

The Data science minor advisers are offering a new GEN ST 150 course next quarter called ‘Exploring Data Science at UW’ for first and second year students. It’s 1 credit, CR/NC, and the main objective is to expose students to the range of ways data science is applied in various disciplines. The course is not requirement for the Data Science minor nor only intended for those interested in the minor. We will rely heavily on faculty guest speakers talking about their work with data science, how students can get involved and learn more about how data science is used in various disciplines. There will be a good portion of class focused on how data science is relevant and used in the social sciences, STEM, and humanities majors.
